Warhammer 40k MMO Debut @ E3

Discussion in 'Upcoming Game Chatter' started by Sogetsu, May 9, 2010.

  1. Finally, not sure if it'll be any good (I have bad feelings on Sci-Fi MMOs) but I love love love the 40k universe.

    from Kotaku:
    http://kotaku.com/5532110/warhammer-40k-game-to-make-long+awaited-debut-at-e3

"Having been operating undercover for years now, it appears that THQ's massively multiplayer game based on the Warhammer 40K universe will make its public debut at next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

    It's about time.

THQ boss Brian Farrell said earlier today that the game, which was last seen when we showed you some concept art in 2009, will be on show at E3 in all its glory, promising to "fully unveil" the highly-anticipated project.

The Warhammer 40K MMO is in development at THQ's Austin studio, Vigil, and is seen by the company as its biggest potential bread-winner in the years ahead. As it should: do a 40K MMO right and you've got yourself a license to print money."

I don't know what I even want from it. Every-time I try and think how I would do it I got nothing, the races are all so different from each other. You probably have to do what Warhammer did and choose the 3 or 4 most defining aspects of each race. Also I don't even know if I would rather have it be FPS/Action or an ability press game like SWGs was.

They said you're suppose to have a squad working as 1 character that's gonna be epic. I'm gonna quit WAR once this game releases :]

Definitely looking forward to this, I fell in love with the Warhammer 40k series when I picked up the RTS games. All amazing!

Looking for something that derails away from all the fantasy crap that has been coming out lately =)

Hmph, foolish humans. Your fates have already been decided. Perhaps the bloody handed god will grant a quick death to your kind.

Have found this a couple times while looking for leaks. Looks cool only thing that makes it feel unbelievable is the fact that they called the imperium Empire.

Claimable zones sounds bad ass. Melee and range along with a cover system are awesome.

    http://diehardgamefan.com/2010/04/20/first-details-of-warhammer-40k-mmo-released/

According to Swedish MMO website mmofocus.se , THQ are planning on announcing the features of the long awaited Warhammer 40k MMORPG in E3 this year and they just happened to get a leak of what these features are:

    Playable factions:
    - Empire
    - Eldar
    - Orcs
    - Chaos

    Features:
    - Focus both on Melee and Long range Combat
    - covering system
    - 29 Zones (21 claimable, 8 invadeable)
    - Open-World
    - PvP around resource gathering and taking strategic points
    - center zone features a conquerable stronghold
    - No playable Tanks or other Warmachines at release but implemented possibility for expansion
    - Tyranids as full fighting PvE-Faction
Lore (being discussed concerning certain faction-plots at the moment but here are the things we determined with Games Workshop so far):
    - Game takes place in the southern border-sectors of Segmentum Tempestus
    - Factions fight over a destroyed imperial forge world called Tarelis and its hive-city Cerberus X (newly added to the lore!)
    - The story of the game will NOT take place in a parallel universe! Just like the Planet Kronus (made by our colleagues at relic) Tarelis will be part of the lore!
    - Tyranids will be main-antagonists
    - Unfortunately Vigil-games was not allowed to use Relics Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter as Ork Warlord as he will make a final appearance in the second DoW2 expansion

    Costs:
    - 49.99$
    Monthly fee:
    - being discussed but most likely around 13$
    Rating:
    - targeted Teen/PEGI 16

Only when E3 rolls around in June will we find out if these facts are true.

When is this E3 unveiling! I can't wait to get more info on this game!!

I just hope the system requirements aren't beyond my current set-up or I will have to upgrade. Should probably start saving now, just in case.
