Left 4 Dead 2 - Dedicated Server

The server is now online and open for play.

How to connect:
Connecting to the server is rather simple, there are 3 ways to connect to the server.

First:
open console and type;
connect 212.187.209.29:27015
This will connect you directly to the server.

Second:
Follow a friend in

Third:
Open console and type;
mm_dedicated_force_servers 212.187.209.29:27015
This will allow you to host a lobby on any setting, once you are ready you just press 'Search' like normal and it will connect you directly to the server with all lobby members.
This can only be used if no one is currently on the server (I think, never tried when someone is on the server)

Reserved Slots - Little buggy atm
I can now give people reserved slot access, this will mean if someone is playing the server that doesn't have this, or has a lower level than you, you will take there place.

For me to give you reserved access I will need your steam ID, if you do not no how to get this, follow the steps below.

1) Go into your steam folder
2) Open the file Steam.log
3) Find this line: CsComm ConnectionPool Oct-20-2009 18:37:13.474 [4656] Attempting new connection 0,87.248.209.212:27030 for 0:1:10322277
4) Take the last number, in this case: 0:1:10322277
5) pm or post it below.

Once you have done this, I will then give you a reserved slot, however this will not take effect till the server is restarted, if no one is online when I add this command, I will restart right away.

Checking who is online
If you have xfire, you can add this server to your favourites and be able to check from there, this is currently not working for steam, at least not for me.
You can also go to this site: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/212.187.209.29:27015/
This will tell you who is online and much more.

If only the server worked, the company upgraded it from L4D2 Demo to L4D2 and some how fucked everything up, so I have to wait for 'advanced' help

Hope it works out. I wish this wasn't in EU too heh. Tired of playing on servers with 200-400ping for everyone.

 

If it goes well, I'll be opening an EU and US servers for the XoO guys, just working out the bugs atm since steam released some friendly buggy software haha

Update:

Server is now working, you should be able to connect at any time with connect ip, or mm_force_dedicated ip (command might not be right but it'll auto complete)

 

I have the game but havent even started playing it yet, been too busy with dragon age. Ill see if i can join in tonight as im in the EU.

 

I'm checking now with the rest of the Xenate but naming it the XoO server doesn't bug me.

You should make this the group server.

 

I would, however I am currently not in the XoO Steam group, and it is currently linked with my personal group.

However since I have sourcemod installed, group server setting doesn't always work anyway

 

so get yourself invited ;p I think anyone can invite, and at least I certainly know that I can

edit: hah, found ya.. the sorting on the search sucked.. listed people offline for 300+ days before you

However I'll need to have the steam group ID, to get this I need one of the admins from the group to check the admin settings and give me the ID from the admin panel.

 

May want to pm Kinetic Medic or poke Commie in steam (he's online atm as of time of posting), they should be able to grab that info for ya.
