So I was re-reading over the article where a bunch of gamers broke the coding on HIV. Pretty much doing in a short time what science hasn't been able to do for God knows how long now.

And it got me thinking. We need a area for the collective knowledge for gamers on the internet. I know that Anon is working on something like it for random people, but we gamers need one as well!

There has been a cure for HIV and many of these "deadly" viruses for years. Its just much more profitable to keep people sick and paying for the treatments.

In fact I was a middle school when I heard the adults talking about how they announced a cure for HIV and all the sudden its like it never happened.

  3. unfortunately the nature of virus is that they can't be killed without harming the host. Hence why there is no cure for the common cold. In order to kill the infecting virus, you must destroy it's hosting cell. If you did this, you would also kill the infected.

However, there is, if I am correct a new treatment being tested which some sort of laser light destroys the outer shell of the virus, and "deactivates" it, essentially making it at least act dead. This even prevented the virus from mutating(which is why they are nearly impossible to kill). They then just have to basically do a blood transfusion and clean out the infected cells. Extremely hard to do, but since the virus no longer replicates, it's actually possible. It could be right around the corner, but to my knowledge, we don't have a cure, just VERY expensive treatments.
