Nothing uses quad channel except for AMD's socket G34 computers. You use dual or triple channel RAM. You can get the quad channel kit and ti will run in dual mode.

Any reason you want an x58 and an i7 970 over the newer much more efficient and powerful P67 chipset and an i7 2600k? the 2600k's dual channel memory is almost as fast as the triple channel memory in the i7 970 :O And the 2600k easily overclocks to really high speeds, while using less power and generating a lot less heat.

Also, since it looks like money is no object and you are getting the bets of the best, why not get two of these kits for a total of 24GB of RAM:

I like AMD as well usually, because of their better price to performance ratio. But Intel has AMD beat bad right now with Sandy Bridge CPUs. Top performance is held by Intel, performance to price ratio is held by Intel now, and performance to power consumption is held by Intel. There is no longer any argument for AMD until Bulldozer comes out. From the things I have seen about Bulldozer though, it looks like a big winner.

You dont NEED 24GB now, but in a couple years you will. I just used a program for Minecraft that took up 5.3GB of RAM to run. And games are starting to take a lot too. My largest RAM usage by a video game is 4.6GB. And you want a lot for the OS to work with as well. So with RAM so cheap, why not get 24GB?

Because 5+1.5=24, mirite? Spend the extra money on a faster 12GB set, instead of getting a bunch of memory that will never be used.

    um, what?

Also, that kit is the fastest 12GB DDR-2000 kit that Newegg sells. As well as being the fastest kit you can buy with 4GB sticks. So.... ya.

Last I checked Intel SSD's are under $2.00/gig, I'd look at getting a 120 personally. 60gig doesn't have much leg room these days.
