I decided to keep my desktop and just store it for the year and get a decent laptop that would keep me amused while there. Shipping would likely be less but space is at a premium in the places there. I found a company called eurocom that sells laptops based off the clevo models like sager does. I customized one below:

I can get a 10% student discount which brings the total to ~1500. I'll be adding my own 250GB ssd to the ODD bay with the bracket and ripping out another 350 gb laptop HDD to stick in the extra 7mm spot if i go this route. All my SSDs are 9mm so i don't think they will fit in the 7mm spot. I'll likely also take my current ODD and throw it in an enclosure in case I need something. What do you guys think? Know of any better deals on prebuilt? I don't need a baller gpu, just one that will run current/future year games on medium with high textures.

It seems as though a MSI GE60 apche pro or lenovo y50 would meet most of my requirements too. It would draw less power and be cooler/last longer. Just might not be able to max textures which isn't a huge deal.

Closest sager model from reflexnotebook. I would only get rid of the ODD here adn replace it with a HDD cage. This is a little overkill for what I need methinks but price/performance looks to be about the best of the 3 I have looked at here.
