the ultimate in.. "instant on" It is a cleaner vehicle...it still needs a clean source of electricity...solar or wind charging it rather than from the grid.
lol @ 300 12v batteries... and totally agree with doctorie's comment. i hate people who say electric cars are cleaner, i just say where you get your electricity from.
And what about the heavy metals and nasty chemicals that were used to produce the batteries (And how/where will they be disposed of ?)
I actually just got to see my first windmill farm in person. If any of you are in the midwest (Indiana specifically) there is a massive WM farm along I-65, I think it's at least 15 miles long (judging by the mile markers on the I-state) with hundreds of windmills. Those bad boys are pretty impressive up close.
Found this on youtube, thought you might like it. Big props to the Crane Operator, as I couldn't imagine how much he had to compensate for the wind when he was putting the blades up. Those boys make big money and are worth every penny.
It's always made me smile when people make those calls for 'wind energy now'. While the technology behind it right now is wonderful, there are so many more issues that people overlook. I was raised in the foothills of southern Cal, where immense windfarms have produced power for decades now. For years they were just those big things way up in the hills, now they are those big things right next door. Population expansion has put the windmills and future development right at a crossroads. For this reason, anyone who says wind power is truly 'renewable' is talking crock. Taking and holding land resources is not being renewable. This is one of the reasons that the 'not in my backyard' type thinking comes up so often when major projects are proposed (who can forget the now infamous Kennedy clan disapproval of a wind project off the coast in Mass, apparently their liberal ideology ran right up against a wall when it saw that their ocean view or sailing area might be affected!!) Wind energy technology is great, but it won't become a truly 'renewable' resource until the footprint it leaves on the ground is greatly recuced. There are those out there that are theorizing into different kinds of 'suspension' systems for large turbines, if they could do this, someday all enegry may be clean and all our land too.
