  2. That's one slow HD.

  3. yeah, certainly the bottleneck point... 10k+ rpm small drive for OS and a slower drive for your storage is the way to go

Sorry, I'm not that computer ..saavyy =[. But thanks for the inputs I'm actually just buying separate parts from newegg now.

  5. No need to apologize. We're here for info and reference. But I agree, even a 7200RPM drive would be better that the one you've currently selected.

the harddrive will make your computer really sluggish if its at 5400 RPM...

The minimum for optimal performance would be 7200RPM.

I have a Velociraptor so I can't truly judge but you gotta admit, 10,000 RPM is fast as hell...

I would go for Intel instead of Amd as for the same prize you can get bit more faster quad core processor and if you add few more bucks [20 tops] you can get much more solid motherboard aswell.

Edit: and with the HDD , do not go for it , you will regret it.Too expensive , too slow.If you need help buiding that up feel free to send me pm, can help you with that.

  8. not sure if vista does, but windows 7 actually has a feature that rates your hardware and tells you what the slow point is... mine is the 7200 RPM hard drive until I get my release version of Win7 and push it to my Velociraptor that has my vista install on it

Thanks everyone for your input :] I actually decided to go in a new direction ..I just ordered parts from newegg. It isn't the latest and greatest but it is a nice first computer and has plenty of room for upgrade.
