the question is if it is going to be like dawn of war 1 or 2, or even entirely different set up?

Thanks for the article! hopefully relic does not mess it up. To me playing Dawn of War 2 was gray game, not to be bad but nothing great. DoW2 gave me the "what were they thinking" feeling because of how DoW1 being a base building RTS. Hopefully it turns out great but given the track record of Warhammer 40k games Im not holding my breath just yet.

Yah kind of unfortunate that I can't purge the forces of Chaos in this one!
Which is kinda of odd since most Dawn of war games feature chaos

Yah but really they could do that with any factions except for Space Marines.

Its kind of like how they always sell vampire counts as add ons for fantasy. I mean if you have space Marine, eldar and chaos in the 40k game that's the majority of the player base isn't it?

Well dont forget orks but pretty much yah. Why dont they dont they have space marines vs tau or necron, and then sell Eldar and Chaos as DLC.
or just do necron and tau and then also sell space marines as a DLC as well. Best marketing scheme ever

I was looking at the army popularity and was surprised Orks were as low as they are. But that might be just for tournaments and not for people playing for giggles

Ive only been watching 40k videos but what from the talk on the Videos Pro/competitive scene is vastly different from regular players. Last time I heard about the Competitive play Eldar and Tau are 1st tier armies then Space Marines and Necrons as 2nd tier, Chaos and Orks and Tyranids are bottom. From What Ive seen the bottom tier armies are the one that have not recieved a codex update in a while. Also even though competitive maybe somewhat removed from casual you always get the occasional power gamer because no one likes to lose a lot. All of this is also dependent your local players as well.

These guys love to play all sorts of miniature games and also the ones I like to watch 40k on. Recentely I have found a place to play warhammer 40k so im going to start my own army soon!

I have spent thousands on minis, and painted maybe 10% of all the stuff I bought hah. Its a bad itch that needs to be scratched. Thankfully sold them all years ago

orks were fun. I had a huge imperial guard army with 31 tanks and 12 sentinels which was good too. Space marines are always solid

Dude I always loved how Imperial guard players Ive seen mostly have guardsman and then a crap ton of tanks on the battlefield. They may bring a elite choice like storm troopers or orgran but usually a metric ton of armor.

Well their melee troops are trash, even the Catchacan Jungle fighters or whatever. Anything with decent armor will be able to tank them and rip them to shreds. I had a few forgeworld tanks too.
