I lost my diablo 2 expansion cd last year, but I still have my sleeve with the key on it. I was real happy when battlenet let you download old games so long as you still had the key, because it would be fun to play that again. Unfortunately, when I tried to install it, it asked for a 26 character cd key, and mine is only 16 characters! The key I used worked on my battlenet account, so I have no idea why the game is asking for something way out in left field! Have any of you had this problem?
Hmm, that's strange. I have use my version from battle.net and it works like a charm. Keys matched and everything.
When you register a 16 digit serial key with battle.net and then you download said game from battle.net it will give you a new 26 digit serial key that you are supposed to use with the game. Try looking on your battle.net account, should be able to find the 26 digit key somewhere before you have to download the client.
For some reason when i download the the digital version, i cant patch it, says invalid version or something of the sorts... mind you i only tried a couple of times.
Did you download the digital version from Battle.net? It should be able to patch. If not, try manually downloading the patch and see if you can apply it then. Might be your game has gotten corrupted. Or if that does not work, try uninstalling/reinstalling the game.
You need to run it as administrator just a heads up so whos all playing Diablo 2 atm? i just started back up again
