Yeah, I've had variations of the same pun quite a fair bit. It's kind of a running gag in some circles. But anyway... if it is what you were asking about, $250 is a pretty steep price tag in the headset area. If I needed to spend that much, it had better be worth it...

The Astro A40s. I'm going to get those headphones one of these days.

  3. I just got a set of Tritton AXPC. Just using them as a TV headset on my old comp until I finish setting the new one up (fucking Vista networking protocols) and then I'll see how they work as a gaming headset. So far, great surround audio on 'em.

    *blows the dust away*

Thought it best to resurrect this thread instead of creating a new one :)

    Thoughts on the RAZER Carcharias

Looking for a GOOD set of headphones that are comfortable even when wearing glasses. My current pair (logitech) hurt my ears when I wear my glasses :(

  5. I have these headphones. They are comfortable and work well. I can wear them for hours without noticing them. Sometimes I even put them on when I'm not using it just because I'm used to having them on at my desk.

  6. I too own the carchs. Unlike Lime I'm not thrilled with the purchase. They are very good quality but in fairly lengthy sessions I can't wait to rip them off as my head is roasting.

  7. I have some crappy headphones from college cause I broke a really nice pair after an arena match with a friend years years ago.

I need to find a new pair, I normally don't like wearing headphones but that's because I've never had a comfortable pair, just using it for a mic.

  9. I have yet to hear a single set of good sounding surround sound headphones. You can still get great positioning of enemies with stereo headphones.

Which BTW, that Logitech headset that you posted Trice is not even a surround sound headset. It is stereo headphones with a single speaker in each side and does Dolby processing to make a fake surround sound.
And on top of that any USB headset is going to have a crap DAC inside it that cant reproduce the audio properly so you should be looking at something with a 3.5mm connector on it.

If you want a really good headset you should get the Sennheiser PC360, or the PC350 if you cant afford the better version.
However with the PC350 it is quite tight on your head and you will need to stretch them out for a while to prevent getting a headache from wearing them the first week. Also the drivers need at least 100 hours of breakin time before they start sounding really nice. When you first take the headset out of the box it sounds horrible. And if you mod it a little bit you can get some serious bass from them. Just look up the "hero mod" for the headset.
The PC360 is basically the PC350 but with a couple more features and is an open design so it sounds much better

  10. All I can say is, they are probally better than the logitech headphones/mic combo I got from Mall-Mart.

Maybe I just have a hard head, but the PC350 never gave me a headache... unlike smaller headsets it also didn't give me an ear-ache... :)

As far as I've heard the break-in thing is quite common for Sennheiser's headphones - though I didn't recall a difference between new and > 100 hours myself. I possibly just don't know what to listen for though. Agree on the bass thing - even unmodded it's fairly powerful.

Doubt I will ever pay over 100$ for a pair of headphones just for gaming, heck the Logitech G35 (98.99 on sale) are pushing the cost limit as is....

  13. But just making sure you know, the Logitech G35 is a stereo headset with processing added to the audio for a fake surround sound. Dont buy them thinking you are getting surround sound headphones.

doubt I will find anything under 100$ that does true surround sound :( Still debating if I want to use USB or 3.5 ...

I'll have a look at some reviews for the HS1 and see :)

Right now its a toss up between the RAZER Carcharias and Logitech G35, want to have something purchased on / before the 8th

  18. I'm buying me a good pair soon.

Maybe I'll ask for some for Christmas?
