Ok, so i recently changed out my HSF, when i did this, i completely cleaned the CPU with alcohol pads. I didnt change anything else, and when i put it back together with fresh paste, no post. All fans and everything turned on but no post. I ran through the usual and removed EVERYTHING except the RAM/CPU/PSU, still no post. Removed the RAM and HSF(leaving the fan plugged in), no post. I tried the PSU 'reset'; unplug and hold power button, try again, nothing... i dont have a spare psu or cpu laying around to try so ill have to buy something... what do you guys think? PSU/CPU/MB is dead?
Also, i double checked the CPU and found there was a tiny bit of old paste on the board pins, could that have caused this even after removing?

  2. the paste is electrically conductive. If it was on the board and conducted electricity wrong it is entirely possible the MB is dead.

You could try removing the CPU and starting the computer. If you get a lot of bad beeps that basically say "no CPU detected" then you know the MB is posting because it is able to do the first check for your CPU.

more like bad mb. for the PSU check the fan, does it spin when you power it on? could also try the paperclip test, but be careful with that one. multimeter would be a wiser choice.

yea im gonna bring my multimeter from work and check the pins.... hope its not the board.... psu is a lot cheaper to replace....

  6. Unfortunately I would have to say that it is not very likely to be the PSU.
