    +!

I have the same issue, been 'fixing' my mother-in-laws PC for 5+ years now *sigh*. She even calls me her 'Computer Guy' and asked that I help a distant relative setup there laptop and wifi.. I am pretty much screwed now..

Just glad she mostly sends e-mails when she needs something :) Easier to ignore then a phone call with a vm.

Its even worse if you work in IT, they automatically assume you work on PC's etc.

Should have read the entire comic, the ending is so so true. Over the years I have installed / configured there VHS, DVD, TV's, Home Theater and on and on and on..

    Oh no...I'm "that guy"

I'm a playa and I can do hardware, but that's it. My girl did all my add-on's/UI updates in WOW every time we had a patch. Good thing she's a gamer too or I would have been lost :eek:ook:

  4. Oatmeal and xkcd are 2 of my favorite comics.

  5. Haha good stuff.

  6. That was hilarious!

There was a flowchart hanging up on the wall at one of my previous jobs; It has basically what makes us geeks so special - the ability to google problems. It's not the one from xkcd, it was more complex.

I've found the best way to get rid of those folks is to stop responding, and tell your wife to stop offering for you to go fix it ;)

  7. You do realize I read these forums, right? Or was that the point? :D

  9. That's the xkcd one - the one I am referring to is more complex :)

  12. Ironically my brother did this just yesterday.

Phoned me up asking for a step by step guide on how to install firefox because his 4 year old daughter deleted it -.-

Simple enough to do right ?, Took me over 30mins to talk him through it over phone.

I never realized how difficult it was to explain how to do things over the phone ... until my husband convinced my mother to buy a Mac and run her PC only programs through VMware. Then he decided he was too busy to do tech support. I now think happy thoughts about shotguns every time I see that derned bitten out logo anywhere.
