Gaming Laptop Help

Discussion in 'Tech Talk' started by Que, Oct 10, 2011.

  1. I am being sent to Mexico City for work soon and I will be way from my tower gaming rig and will be risking some major gaming withdraws. So in short I need a gaming laptop. My experienced with laptop hardware is limited compared to tower rigs so I need your help.

    Budget: $1500ish (flexible)

    Requirements:
Portable - No 20" screens. I do have to travel with it but a short battery life is not an issue.

    Games:
    BF3
    LoL
    Aion

  2. Heard very good things about these people:

Also heard good things about this company:

You will want at least a 560M graphics card, however that will probably only play BF3 on medium settings. If you want to play BF3 on high settings you will need a 580M or you could probably get by with an HD6990M too. Just remember to feed a powerful graphics card you also need a powerful CPU, and that will probably be out of your price range that you want. Aion and LoL will easily be playable on a 560M though so you can probably get a good deal around the price you want on one with that card.

  3. Oh good budget, I have a pretty decent one for 1000 that can run Battlefield 3 at minimum, and with 500 you can get an i5 and a much better graphics card :)

  4. There is also this company, I dont know how you can get it so cheap compared to everyone else but you may want to give it a go:

Get the Killer-N 1103 wireless upgrade, the 8GB DDR-1600 upgrade, 500GB hard drive @ 7200 RPM, i7-2630QM upgrade, dead pixel guarantee, and the Home Premium 64-bit OS. Comes out to like $1,262

  6. I bought an Alienware about a year or 2 ago, a MX15 I think it was.. but I got a discount, rebate, and another employee discount and I was on the road. I know Alienware's have kinda gone down in "quality" (or some say) since being bought by Dell... but I enjoyed it up to the point of selling it to a friend (broke even fortunately) but that would also be an option.

  7. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll do some research on the xoticpc folks because that looks like far the best deal.

  9. Do you have the full specs on that?

  10. Came here to link a Qosmio, read your OP and realized it definitely does not fit your portable qualification. Oh well :( Best of luck in your laptop hunt.

  11. My cousin just bought the asus, realisticly it will be the best bang for your buck, not sure on specs but wanted to no esmocks cost.
