not true 5.1 but i already own the X41's the step down from this one and they are a great headset but due to wireless they are kind of weak in the bass department.....but i have better directional sound with them than my trittons.......so really tricking the brain into thinking sound is coming in a certain direction is better then 4 speakers that just stare at the ear. I love dolby headphone technology
