  3. Now I wonder, will the shooting be in real time and have to aim... or is it gonna be like you target someone, then its "locked" on so to speak..

  4. i have a feeling "locked on"

  5. in the vid it sure looked locked on to me heh either that or he's just that good at aiming =P

  6. ill say like most other MMOs target and blast your skills.

ither way the class looks good.

  7. Nice! but didn't EQ2 have a lot of VO?

  8. thats pretty impressive... but i hope they don't blow their budget on all this fancy VO and get me an awesome game with less lag than other games.

Perhaps the shooting may be like Tabula Rasa in concept. I say in concept because it got desperately dull quite fast in TR, needed more diversity. The concept was sound though, could easilly work for melee too.

I press escape for cutscenes and scripted quest dialog. :(

This just struck me, not directed at you at all blackwolf:

Back 'in the day' if you skipped quest dialogs you had no idea what to do or where to go. These days if you skip quest dialog you can just follow the shiny yellow arrows to the next 'xp bonus' killing everything in the way.

Whatever happened to having to figure out where you had to go from what people said? I mean i know it's usually fairly obvious, but I kinda miss the days when you could pick up on something in what people said that would help you later on, instead of just skipping from person to person and them giving you xp for killing stuff.

  13. The good ol days have passed my friend. Now every game has to appease the masses. And they are all carebear children.

Because if I wanted to solve Blue's Clues, I'd go watch Blue's Clues. They are never ever ever "challenging" to figure out. Even without arrows. They are just little tiny dramatic scripted sequences that you have illusionary interaction with. Glowy arrows are fine, because me having to remember that Timmy said to go talk to Bobby for some xp is neither challenging nor interesting.

Even back in the days of Everquest the quests were just "If only I had something hairy and smelly, I would be so happy!" and you had to trial and error your way through it. I mean, cmon... Blue's Clues all the way. And even the few that weren't like that, the steps to finish each one was 2 clicks away on a website. Why do something with trial and error when the correct steps are 2 clicks away?

Developers can't just keep doing the same thing over and over and expect people to stay interested. Quests and stories that are truly fluid and interactive are non-existant in any mmo so far. And I've read through enough quest dialog and stories in my lifetime that I'm not interested in paying monthly to read anymore unless I have some real, true interaction with it. If that makes me carebear, then call me Carebear Jungleface! ;)

  15. This might be the first MMO I play that I have the sound turned on while doing so.

  16. Welcome Carebear Jungleface!

but yeah, I agree that if a game had a confusing questing interaction, it would cause more problems than the challenge provided cause you can just google it. but if for some reason you start talking to a quest giver and you're monitor gets unplugged etc. as long as there's a way to get a repeat of teh quest info, im fine with it being a bit more challenging

  17. No, carebear jungleface!!!! I meant like everything is TOO easy now a days. Like even a 3 year old could do the quests...

I want something more realistic and challenging and not, go kill x number of guys and collect y number of these.

  18. I just want the quests where you collect X number of troll ears off some trolls... WHY DO SOME NOT HAVE 2 EARS?

Yeah I agree, I want that too. :) Especially quests that are truly interactive instead of "Step 1 is this, step 2 is that, step 3 is this. Good luck, %s!"

I just don't see why they're making a big deal about all these voice overs. Big waste of money if you ask me. They should have spent all that money developing some kind of new super questing system like the world has never seen. Not polishing up the same ol' turd.

from what I could see, the reason for the big deal (aside from the number of people involved in the VOs) is that the quest dialogue seemed to dynamically shift based on who is in the party. Now whether or not that is valid for every quest or just a few events that they're showcasing has yet to be revealed :x
