So I bought the early access on steam for 19.99 and have played about 3 hours of it. It's not to hard to get used to the controls, the few that there are. Each map so far is like a domination/assault map. You end up fighting over the map trench by trench and in good ole WWI fashion don't make much progress. Without teamwork of course. The maps are each very unique from one side charging up a hill, to complete flatland with only craters to hide in. Squads. So a pretty cool factor for this game is squads. Each squad has an NCO, a guy you spawn on sometimes, who has a pistol an binoculars. He calls in the mortars(4 grenade blasts pretty much), gas bomb, recon, etc. I haven't seen any other options. But he can only have one type. By default you get only mortars. As you level up the class you get the others, I think. So from the NCO down you have usually a sniper, MG, rifle with a bayonet, grenades, etc. Though not all squads have the same options and I have yet to discover how to make others. So far all the classes seem very balanced and even as my level 2 with no unlocks from default classes I easily top the kill charts and obj points. The hard part is getting used to the guns. French have their einfield, germans start with the gewhr, and the mosin, so far. I know there are other rifles because I've been killed by a kar. Anyway as in Call of Duty all the guns have different sights and shoot differently. So you have to get used to that. So far the einfield is pretty good because it defaults with 10 rounds and the gewhr is annoying because the sights are terrible to see out. Anyway 4/5 stars from me so far and its not even out of early access. Not 5/5 because I don't know where its going yet. . Try it out. I will be playing this for a while. I'll try to jump in the FPS channels when I do. EDIT: Oh, and the hit registration is pretty sweet. Easily better than COD2.
Hey guys. A squad of us started playing again last night. I think we got a couple of recruits out of it too. Come join us in the "other fps" channel throughout the week. Maybe we can get enough of us to be allowed back in the fps division!
Having read through this again, I'll probably pick it up this next week... I need to start sniping again!
I'm down. I've got 3 other guys that I play with. If we can get all of us on it will be a good time indeed.
I would be more likely to show up for a weekend as well. What about Sunday afternoon say like 3-4 EST?
Well I would be up for any day but most nights during the weekend I can only be on till about 8:45 CST.
Game is released! Very Positive Reviews on steam. something like 5600 recommend and only 700 dislike. New networking patch coming out soon. Hopefully be better than the current. It's pretty much the only thing that really bugs me...clientside registration.
