For those of you interested in buying Guild Wars 2, this is a quick public service announcement to make you aware that April 10, 2012 is the first day for pre-orders! While the launch date is not yet set, you can score a bit of bonus swag if you order early. Check the official retailers list for the collector's edition and the official website if you're going digital. If you're planning on playing Guild Wars 2 at any point in the future, you might regret not buying early! Remember that this game has no monthly fees, so there is no obligation to play right away. If you're a big fan (like me!) be sure to show up early for the collector's edition...supplies are limited!
On the Gamestop website it's showing a release date of 06/26/12......has this been officially confirmed?
No, Gamestop is making stuff up. No official release date as of yet. Honestly though, I don't think they're far off though. I'd wager release to be somewhere between mid-June to September.
Also, a significant reason to buy early is that it gives you automatic access to all upcoming beta weekends until release. I'm sure not everyone will be sold, but that probably ought to be edited into the news post at some point Since it is how many XoO-ers will be playing beta, and is the most reliable way to join us.
what i dont understand is how will they know to allow me access to beta if they make you go to retailers for the CE?
Like I've said before. Don't believe any official news or release dates unless its from the developer. I never even look at Gamestop anymore.
You're supposed to get a small box for that with the code at the time you buy it - you have to return to the shop later (on release) to collect the full thing though.

In EU, when you pre-purchase a physical SE of the game, you get only small box with the serial code inside & that's it! It kinda sucks =/ no later return to collect the full thing ---
I wanted to post this earlier, but didn't want to come off sounding like an ass. Most pre-order beta keys are given on the receipt once you preorder from a physical retailer. It was this was with TERA, and lots of others.
