I really need a new monitor to play games on - will need two most likely and I would prefer to purchase online if possible. I want at least a 22" widescreen - I'm not even sure how much a "good one" goes for anymore but I really don't want to break the bank but at the same time I don't want one that will not perform. Suggestions? The Dell Ultrasharp monitors are very good quality. However they are usually on the pricey side. Basically you can do fine to pay 120-200.00 for up to a 24 inch LCD monitor. When the Dell U2412's go on sale for sub $200 you can't beat them for bang for your buck. Never ever ever pay list price for anything Dell - it will go on sale regularily, coupons come up, and the discounts can be large.
How much do you want to spend Kit? Do you want a truly great monitor you can keep for years and will look amazing the whole life of it? Or do you want a good looking one, but not in the great category but is much cheaper? As SS said, you are looking around $200 for an average/good one. If you want the truly great monitor they cost $500+. Response time is incredibly low and it has little to no input lag. Colors are the best you can possibly get in a TN panel and even better than some IPS panels. It has amazing looking contrast levels and blacks (a weak point in LCDs), and it is also 27" so it is wonderful to play on. Oh, since it supports 120Hz it is also a 3D monitor too and can upscale to 3D if you so choose. I plan to use it for just 120Hz 2D gaming though. 120Hz will allow the monitor to refresh 120 times per second, giving much smoother motion and much more fluid gameplay. Yes, you can actually tell the difference. I miss my old CRT cause I used to game 1600x1200 at 150Hz refresh rate. Those were the good days. The odd looking one is an MVA panel. It produces better black levels , has much better color, and has better viewing angles at the expense of refresh rate. The refresh is still perfectly fine for MMO gaming, but would not be the best for FPS gaming. Also, you have to tilt the monitor to your position as even though it has very wide viewing angles, looking at it diagonally from center causes the colors to shift a bit. This also happens on regular TN panel monitors, but to a slightly more extent on MVA panels. The normal looking one is designed more for FPS gaming and is a good general all around monitor. It doesnt have as nice of color on it, but black levels should be "comparable" These two are both 60Hz inputs and refresh rate. Meaning you cant see anything over 60FPS in a game and motion is just regular and comes off as a bit jagged.

My friend has that one. Or it might've been a different model because he paid $700 for it. The picture quality was damn amazing. The upscale 3D, not so much. Things designed for 3D might fare better though. But if you're getting it just for 2D use, then you'll be good.

lmao. Newegg's systems made a big price error. That is an amazing monitor but it is supposed to be $499. I am buying that one soon too and last I looked at it the price was $499. The upper model, which is the exact same but has USB hub built in and nice styling is $599 last I looked

You guys know that monitors 27" and above are very expensive because of the max resolutions. As opposed to an LCD TV where the resolutions max at 1920x1080. Also, that 27" samsung monitor is 3D ready @ 1,000,000:1 samsung Contrast ratio. Comes with everything for 3D already. Thats why it is 700+
