This is what is wrong with kids today. They are coddled so much that they don't have any traumatizing shows like this. "It builds character."

I know I linked that video at least twice on the old forums, and the discussion of TV and children has been brought up.

Personally, it is my understanding that any parent who does not have their act together enough to know how any one thing will effect their child's state of mind for the future is not a suitable parent at their current state and should work harder at forming a better bond, that being said it is up to the individual parent to know what's right for their kids on TV since all children are raised differently.

A child may or may not be at risk if shows start talking about demons and satan in ways that skew the lines of good and evil depending if that child is raised in a demon filled or demonless world depending on what theological background is pushed or offered to them. It's a parent's job to monitor and talk with their kids about this sort of thing, that leads to kids getting a level head about things and discourages the sort of thing that make parents paranoid anyway.

A better question is that is TV actually a good thing for kids to be watching at all? Try turning it off and speaking with them, read them a book or something.

    Srsly.

My child will be turning 2 in a few days. I would rather her not watch any TV at all at this point. When she does, she gets so wrapped up in and doesn't even acknowledge when we call her name. I try to keep shows down to just educational, They still seem to hold her attention at this point.
Though we are guilty of occasionally using the TV as a babysitter when trying to keep her from under our feet while we get something done.

I'm not really opposed to my daughter watching what was posted though. I would prefer her to be old enough to understand the context and generate some thought on it.

  5. As long as you tell them whats right or wrong at that age i really dont see anything wrong with any show besides maybe something that goes against your religion or moral judgement, ect. I mean i knew a kid that @ age 17 he couldnt even watch ninja Turles because his parents thought it was to violent and ended up @ 19 sticking a crowbar in sum random dudes head and throwing him down in a well, so i mean...u decide..

I love that scene... I even have the full movie :p

On a side note... I showed that scene to my roommate last year, and he claimed that he had nightmares because of it...

  7. I thought that was entertaining. And maybe it would teach kids a lesson... Kids these days are horrible creatures.

  8. RAWR watch out!

  9. I thought that was a fascinating representation of Satan. I like that mask concept.

I have a 3yo son and a 5yo daughter. I am generally happy for them to watch most shows unless there is a lot of bloodshed or I know their toes are going to curl up under the couch cover. (Then there are those new childrens shows that are so bright and colourful and all you here are beeps and squeels... they scares ME!)

To me it is not a question of WHAT I let or don't let my kids watch; to me it is a question of HOW I explain to them what they have seen when they ask, or even when I feel I should intercede.

On a personal note I am definately saying that my kids are too young for this, even at face value.

  15. Yea I don't think the big problem is what kids watch its how they interpret it and its the parents responsibility to make sure they interpret it properly

  16. Wow, i really loved his intro. It reminded me kinda of the little girls in bio-shock. The voice anyway, although what he said gave me chills lol....
