loaded it up about noon...got to bed about 1am... CIV V is going to ruin my life... "one more turn" my ass...
I know what Civ II Civ III and Civ IV did I still have yet to touch Civ V... It will be interesting again to be sucked into turns till I am so far in that I am going bleh what to kill next, oooh lookie another barb camp, yay another town.... Yeah turns get outrageous for me to where it takes me 45 minutes just to move to my next turn...
I have the same problem, last week my girl was home, and i was one more turn and ill there in bed with you! 45 minutes later she was sleeping, and i was still playing. Civ V is evil i tell you!
I will say the only game that has compared was the Sims for addicting games like this, but they tend to loose there appeal a lot quicker for me then Civ games. So yeah they are always fun and tend to be quite blast in multi-player, which does speed the gameplay a bit as well when playing with my normal group. Nothing like a race or Nukes or the nuclear peace-treaty before others get Nukes XD
players have their tastes! i love civ, yesterday i was borred for a little, so i junped for a few turns of Civ, and you know what, i enjoyed every minute of it!
i installed it last night and go sucked in for 8 hours..then it froze and i remembered i had forgot to save(wants an auto save XD) and decided 6am was a good time to go to bed LOL
there is auto save, in the options you can adjust it how often it saves the game, i think the default is 5 turns. but im not sure if its on from the default. the first thing i do when i start a game is goint to the options and see what i can tweek!
Spore was such a huge letdown though from what it was promised to be. Stupid EA had to go and strip out most of the game to cut costs Personally I enjoy Civ games and they really suck the time away while playing, but I get bored of them after a week or so and go back to more exciting games.
Civ 5 is good, but its still not amazing...yet. The basics of the game are fine and the modding community is well under way. As time progresses, DLC and possibly expansions will be released and of course eventually the great mods will be out, but as of right now the game seems lacking. The AI is stupid at times even on the harder settings and imo most of the wonders I feel are useless. Also the diplomacy screen feels really simple. Still when civ 4 came out it wasnt brilliant but with mods and eventually the expansions it got to be a great game. Im sure civ 5 will go in a similar direction.
Soooo as a massive Civ fan.. Im going to avoid this till christmas ! Really cannot afford to be sucked in.
