we spent the weekend at a beachside hotel...secluded..tiny little hotel. very cold...not much of a room..too soft of a bed..but it had a great fireplace and a fantastic view.. this shot is from the room walked down to the beach...started out cold..drizzling....very windy..but invigorating with the crashing waves.. started to clear up just a bit..you can see some blue sky it must have been a very steep shoreline..the sea looks calm..but the waves form very near the beach and don't break till they hit the beach very few houses on this road..we rode maybe 40km to an old lighthouse..saw maybe 300 seals along the road...
made some video of this spot with the giant seaweed and crashing waves..when its up on youtube ill embed it a few seals in this spot..I didnt get to close..them bitchs gots big teeth
and a few pics from the past few months I just got around to uploading we sort of maybe trespassed on to the farmers field.... ..but we were looking for a good spot on the lake to picnic..then saw this tree...perfect picnic spot....mind you didnt step in sheep shit
cape palliser road..cape palliser lighthouse.. and lake ferry...is where we spent the night... south end of north island
google map view http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-41.608961,175.26491&spn=0.083941,0.154324&z=13 On a sunnier day I want to trex past the lighthouse..the road ends..and its little more than a trail...maybe hike a day and spend the night out..hike back. You can see on google maps the terrain gets dramatic. Of course Ben knows that..I'm still discovering this country.
I so want to go back to NZ. Went with the family in 2000 around both islands over 4 weeks since my dad is from there originally. I really cant wait until i have enough money to move there permenantly Might pop over again next year with my dad since its the rugby world cup. All Blacks all the way! ;D
Gorgeous eye candy, some time me and the wife are going there... first gotta visit her brother in Australia... but ill put money away to go see NZ. The coastal shots look alot like the south side of nova scotia, until you pan to the hi hills right across hehe, but very impressed! Thanks for sharing.
