The problem with Iron Warriors for a game stand point is that there made up of mostly basic marines. They have the highest number of those infected with the obliterator virus but very very few sorcerers which im sure theyll want to have in game where as Black Legion uses everything under the sun to reach there objectives.

Also Word Bearers are also undivided and are another candidate I think they might use for the game. Which would be ok if i could become a possessed. The only problem I see with Word bearers would be you couldnt use any of the cult units because anyone favoring one god too far is executed.

As soon as they give us vehicles Im hopping on a bike or throwing on a jet pack and will go hunting PC's and they better allow me to customize my armor cause i want the night lords symbol on my pauldrons.

Wish i could see some gameplay video's of it >.<. I hope they go for a realistic and dark style. My wish is it to play like borderlands in the combat and leveling system.

I love the idea of a 40K MMO. Hope they do it justice, definitely need to be able to take Marines as a class. Any idea on proposed release date?

there is *nothing* on the game... other than the fact that it exists. supposedly much will be revealed at E3

but for release date? early next year at the soonest is my guess

It will largely depend on TORs release date. They either want to come out before TOR...or a year after probably.

There have been bits of info here and there. One statement by David Adams did say that this would be a RPG, and stated about how people would think of this game as a RTS or FPS, but that the emphesis was RPG ( though he didnt say it was NOT going to have fps elemets in so we will see ).

Im not a huge fan of speculation tbh but even i cant resist diving head first into this one. All I can say though is that we are going to have issues with what side to pick. God knows I Wont choose Chaos despite the fact that theres a percentage here who wants to play them.

Would be nice to see players start as Impirium soldiers and have to work up the ranks to become a marine. Or choose to say as IG and have access to all those lovely tanks. Similar system with eldar perhaps? choose a path.

Im sure Tau wont be there but perhaps one day ill have a nice XV8 suit :)

the path you mention couldnt work. GW is nothing if not a fluff nazi, and i believe they have said that the events of the MMO will be cannon (like DOWI/II). so space marines need to be prepubescent at the beginning of the implantation process.... and i dont think the Guard is quite up to recruiting that young. :p

it could work with the eldar though, since they have many 'paths' between which they switch every so often.... or become 'lost' on a certain path and become Exarchs

tau would be nice... if only to give us all some carebears to shoot XD, they would get ganged on by all the other factions for being pansies

Yea, the cultures in War40k are so varied I cant not think of a way to do a uniform ranking system. That is why I think they will go with the Warhammer method. Make several classes that might not be 100% current units but that embody the spirit of the culture. Depending on your class you might be at different stages of life. For instance a Veteran Guardsman or a fresh and newly recruited space marine.

SWTOR is doing this as well where if you choose Trooper as your class you are just being recruited into special forces. But if you choose Jedi, you are only just making it through your trials.

I suppose though it would depend on which chapter was there ( if we really want to stick 100% with the lore). I remember in space wolf novels they would get the recruits when they were sort of young ( Ragnar was what, 16 or 18 something like that ) but I think it was the black templars and even reference to blood ravens ( which could be a chapter we might see in this game ) that would take promising IG soldiers.

I know its something we probaly wont see but it would be nice to have. New players start as IG for the tutorial - then towards the end they have the option of going 3 ways, staying as IG ( and moving up to the more elite units ) becoming a SM or being corrupt and joining chaos.

As for my tau, come say pansies while your looking down the barrel of a railgun ;)

True, Black Templars as well as Grey Knights only take proven warriors.

No chapters can take Imperial Guardsmen past the age of i think 16 your body rejects the implants and you die. The only exception to this was the Space Wolves when they were first there several of the jarls went through the surgery and like 80% died.

*young* proven warriors. its not up for debate... and every chapter does so, because the process used to forge a marine does not work otherwise. preteen is ideal, and every year after greatly increases the chances of rejection and failure. fully mature adutls *cannot* become spacemarines, under any reasonable circumstances, ever.

the Blood Angel's recruits are children from a deathworld, made to travel across a damn dangerous landscape to each a temple where deathmatches are conducted to judge their ferocity and character. then drugged to sleep in caskets while the changes are made, awakening as powerful marine adults. i cannot for the life of me find the chapter of the blood angels novel that demonstrates this, but it is well noted elsewhere.

the Imperial fists show up at a handful of half feral recruiting worlds, nap the most promising young warriors (from battle, if possible) and leave. in the novel Sons of Dorn, the three main characters are: a young fencer who was too young to fight just months before, a young warrior-caste apprentice whos only duty in battle is to warn his master of foes sneaking up behind him, and a unblooded barbarian youth.

the Space wolves do the same thing, on their homewold, a deathworld called Fenris. in the novel Space Wolf, Ragnar Blackmane is recruited on the eve of his ascension into manhood, or what i assume to be, since its the first time he drinks a 'mans drink' and has his first time with a girl (note, 'girl' not 'woman'), given the barbaric/norse/viking-esque culture of the Fenrisians... this was not more than 16.. and probably closer to 12 or whenever he started growing facial hair.

the Grey Knights do *not* take proven warriors. rather, they recruit from the very best of the usable stock of psykers that arrive at Terra on the Black Ships, this is, by definition, 'the younger the better'. Most are too old, or corrupted somehow and fed to the golden throne, those young enough to proceed are separated by will, those with weak will are turned into astropaths, protected from procession by the binding process. those with sufficient will are turned into sanctioned psykers, the most powerful and willfull of these become Inquisitors or Grey Knights.
